BiodiverCity
Design studio "BiodiverCity" at The Why Factory with Alexander Sverdlov, Felix Madrazo and Winy Maas of MVRDV.

The project is based on the issue that more and more land is taken away from nature to be used as urban space for people making it less available as animal habitats. A way to counter this development without denying the fact that the worlds human popluation is going urban is to develop new design strategies that let the animals share this space with us.

I´ve developed an infrastructure strategy where the tramways of Amsterdam is re-fitted to double as an infrastructure for animals as well and a new configuration of the waterways in the city. The wetland strategy tries to expand upon its own interventions through different strategies on various levels and give new qualities to humans as well as animals.
